Slimeline Electric Storage Radiators
Traditionally, electric radiators were used to provide heat in parts of the home where the standard central heating couldn’t reach, such as conservatories and garages. Electric storage radiators are often seen as a real replacement to traditional central heating systems and can heat a whole house.
Traditionally, electric radiators were used to provide heat in parts of a house where the standard central heating couldn’t reach, such as garages and conservatories. Electric radiators are now a practical replacement to traditional hot water based heating systems and can be used to heat an entire home.
Why is this?
Older, conventional storage heaters were often large, bulky and unattractive. Depending on the design, they also wasted energy by pushing the warm air up to the ceiling. Modern electric radiators have surface fluting which radiates from a larger surface area. The fluting draws in cold air from the floor, heats it, then distributes it throughout the room.
They are extremely easy to fit. Most modern electric radiators simply require plugging into a standard domestic electrical socket. They come in a wide variety of sizes so they can fit into almost any space, and also they don’t even have to be wall mounted as a large number of them have the option of being mobile on castors.
Installation costs are also much lower than standard central heating. As there is no need for a boiler and hot water pipes running through the house, electric radiators are much faster and less labour intensive to fit than cast iron radiators.
One massive advantage of modern electric radiators is how straightforward they are to maintain. There is no need to bleed air out of the system, they are not effected by cold weather and can’t leak. All they require is the occasional wipe in connection with a moist cloth to remove dust.
Electric radiators can also be controlled individually and provide heat instantly, so you only need to turn on the radiators that are required, when they are required. This can help to lower utility bills by not heating rooms and spaces that don’t require it. When used in conjunction with modern wireless thermostats, the temperature in different rooms and spaces in the house can be individually controlled.
Electric storage radiators are often more energy efficient compared to cast iron radiators. No energy is wasted in taking the heat to the radiator unlike the energy that heats up hot water pipes. Near enough all the electricity supplied to them is used to generate heat and there is not much waste. Less waste means less power is needed to provide the same level of heat. Low input storage heaters can reduce the energy intake by 50%.
Modern slimeline electric storage heaters are well designed and efficient making them a perfect replacement for old unattractive night storage heaters. If used with electronic control systems, they typically significantly cheaper to run compared to an old night storage heater.
Electric radiators are a great solution to keep your house warm as well as reduce energy bills. They are very versatile and provide a high level of safety, reliability, cleanliness and comfort that is unmatched by any other heating system.
